ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTION GEAR Electrical distribution gear allows a large primary three-phase power supply from a generator set or utility to accommodate multiple 120VAC outlets for your event or jobsite. This method of connection allows for easy, safe connection of multiple 1-phase loads through insulated, GCFI protected outlets. At Stowers, we keep the most commonly used distribution gear in our inventory for rent with our portable generators or with your power source. |
| HOW DO I SET UP DISTRIBUTION GEAR AT MY SITE? A typical electrical distribution setup is shown in the diagram below. In this example, a generator set delivers 120/208VAC three-phase power into a three-phase distribution breakout box. The distribution breakout box splits the three-phase power to two distribution boxes, from which the power is split into 120VAC single-phase voltage outlets spaced along “quad stringers” to provide power to your 120VAC equipment. Scrolll down to see the legend below this diagram, which identifies each of the oomponents of the system in this example. TYPICAL DISTRIBUTION GEAR SYSTEM LEGEND The diagram above is an example of a typical electrical distribution setup. Each number in teh diagram corresponds to a number in the legend below that describes the system components. Each component is protected by a breaker. When setting up such a system, remember to be aware of ampacity (maximum allowable amp draw) of each component and receptacle in the system. Also, cable ramps (not pictured) should be used to protect cables that cross pedestrian walkways.
APPLICATIONS FOR ELECTRICAL DISTRIBUTION GEAR Electrical distribution gear can be used virtually anywhere that multiple 120VAC, single-phase power is needed, including emergency triage situations, entertainment events, and construction sites. QUIET, CONVENIENT, AND EASY TO SET UP Our quiet, enclosed generators are trailer-mounted for portability and have integrated, on-board fuel tanks maintained by Stowers to ensure that power is available when you need it without being an intrusion to your event or on your jobsite.
